Portsdown Engineering began trading in 1976 and quickly became involved in prepacking coal for resale by merchants. The solid fuel market however began to suffer from smokeless zones and north sea gas.
A pre-packing machine for sand and aggregates was introduced to the Builders' Merchants market and this was most successful.
Hundreds of Portsdown Pre-packers were sold to merchants and many of these machines are still in daily use. When the "Bulk Bag" appeared on the scene, Portsdown introduced special hoppers and scales for the Quarry Market.
It became clear that Portsdown had to become involved with other markets and our equipment now cares for a wide range of products, including foot operated heat sealers, constant heat sealers, pre-packing machines and much more.
