New Nett Weigh System
Portsdown Engineering began trading in 1976, originally involved in coal-packing. Since these humble beginnings, Portsdown has created machines for many industries, selling hundreds of machines to builders merchants, quarries and small businesses. All of this experience has been put into the innovative new Portsdown Nett-Weigh system. We spoke to Bill Williamson to find out more about it.
What is the difference between a normal nett-weigh system and the Portsdown Nett-Weigh system?
A normal nett-weigh system requires a specially made hopper with pneumatic operation to close during the filling process when the packing weight is reached. This is a very expensive device and it also has the drawback of being unsuitable for certain products - for example, any product that doesn't free-flow well or something that is sticky.
The Portsdown Nett-Weigh System has been specially developed to not only overcome the problems of a traditional nett-weigh system, but can be easily operated by one person. It uses an ingenious U shaped support, which not only holds the bag open for filling, but also makes it much easier to remove the filled bag.
What difference does this product make to a business... how much money might they save?
As well as needing just one person to operate the machine, which saves on staff over-head, it also requires much less maintenance than a traditional nett-weigh system. On top of this, it is also much cheaper to purchase. This is an all-round winner for any business.
How easy is this system to use?
The Portsdown Nett-Weigh system has been designed to be incredibly simple to operate.
What kind of products could you use this system for?
Almost anything, sand, gravel, wood chips, fertilisers - the list goes on. Contact me if it's not on the list and I'll let you know if it can be done.
