A substantial change in the distribution of sand and aggregates has taken place over the last 20 years. Loose deliveries from merchant’s depots have almost disappeared to be replaced by one tonne bags and pre-packing.

Merchants are now finding that sand and aggregate sales con be very profitable provided adequate machinery is available to fill, weigh and seal bags.

The customer appreciates the convenience of these deliveries and is fully prepared to meet the additional charges.

The new Portsdown Universal Hopper can be switched quickly from one tonne sacks to pre-packs. Variable speed drive can permit very fast filling with accurate final weight. Scales are "plugged" into the hopper and are immediately usable. The merchant can now quickly adjust his pre-packing to meet his customers requirements.
